Doorways for Women and Families (http://doorwaysva.org/) strives to end homelessness and family and intimate partner violence by offering safe shelter and housing, life changing support services and community advocacy.

Since 1978, Doorways for Women and Families has provided a life saving continuum of care, hope and safety for thousands of women and families experiencing domestic violence and/or homelessness.

Doorways is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization that offers safe shelter to abused, homeless and at-risk women and families. The assistance Doorways provides helps clients develop the tools and resources essential to reclaiming self-sufficiency.

The WIP is a six-month program of personal and professional development that brings outstanding university students from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to Washington, D.C. for summer internships and leadership training. The program begins and ends with practical service in Northern Ireland and Ireland.
