Mount Vernon is committed to leveraging our strengths, talents, resources and technologies to service our communities and our customers. We are able to draw on our experience to refine the way we produce and deliver printed materials, including the following programs:

Forest Stewardship Council Logo

The Forest Stewardship Council was created to change the dialogue about and the practice of well-managed forestry worldwide. FSC sets forth principles, criteria and standards that span economic, social and environmental concerns.  The FSC standards represent the world’s strongest system for guiding forest management towards responsible outcomes.  Like the forestry profession itself, the FSC system includes stakeholders with a diverse array of perspectives on what represents well-managed forests. The FSC standards for forest management have now been applied in over 57 countries around the world.

The FSC Trademark identifies products which contain wood from well-managed forests certified in accordance with the rules of the Forest Stewardship Council.

Mount Vernon is proud to be FSC certified.  Want to find out more about printing your jobs using FSC certified practices?  Please contact your Account Executive or click here for more information.

The Rainforest Alliance is an international nonprofit conservation organization that certifies forestry and agricultural operations, ensuring that they meet rigorous standards for the conservation of natural resources and the rights and welfare of workers and local communities. The mission of the Rainforest Alliance is to protect ecosystems and the people and wildlife that depend on them by trans-forming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior.

The Rainforest Alliance Certified seal, when used in conjunction with the FSC Trademark, is a symbol that indicates quality and commitment to effective conservation and sustainability practices.

Mount Vernon and Consolidated Graphics are proud to offer products that may display the Rainforest Alliance Certified seal.  To find out more about the Rainforest Alliance click here.

American Forests works to protect, restore and enhance the natural capital of trees and forests. Healthy forests filter water, remove air pollution, sequester carbon, and provide homes for wildlife. American Forests also promote practices that help plant trees to restore areas damaged by wildfire, where critical wildlife habitat has been lost, and to clean our air and water.

Through our partnership with American Forests, Mount Vernon and Consolidated Graphics are working to help preserve America’s Forests.  A unique cross-media program through the Consolidated Graphics 2007 Annual Report is encouraging people to help plant trees.

In 2006, Mount Vernon Printing Company volunteered to undergo an Energy Savings Assessment through the U.S. Department of Energy’s Save Energy Now Program.  Officers from the Industrial Assessment Center at West Virginia University visited our printing facility and performed a thorough inspection of our plant and manufacturing practices.

The IAC’s subsequent evaluation of Mount Vernon Printing Company identified numerous opportunities for Mount Vernon to reduce energy usage and diminish environmental impact while continuing to create world-class products.

For these efforts, Mount Vernon Printing was recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy for “Demonstrating exceptional leadership by completing the Energy Savings Assessment through the Save Energy Now Program.”
